Consumer Complaint: In XXXX XXXX I gave verbal notice that I would need to move to a smaller apartment, I was approved for a 1bedroom and I was living in a two be droom. In XXXX I gave written notice that I would be moving at the end of my current lease ( XXXX / XXXX / XXXX ). On XXXX XXXX , I received a 24hr notice on my door. I moved out, leaving the apartment clean and empty. Because the office was closed, I returned the keys in the mail drop, the office staff was in XXXX XXXX . I was having financial trouble and was behind on my rent. I was able to pay all but XXXX before I left. My deposits of XXXX were returned to account. After I left I received a bill stating that I was still on a lease that had 8 months to go and that there were other charges as well including lawyer fees. I proved the lease was up and that I had notified them in writing properly before leaving. The 8 months were removed but the other fees remained. I have the lease and the customer accounting sheet showing payments and charges. The original company was sold for bad management and all staff fired but the collection company refuses to correct it. I have been trying to get this removed since that time.
