Consumer Complaint: I was admitted to the ER at XXXX XXXX XXXX HOSPITAL on XX/XX/XXXX. After being there approximately 1 hour, they discharged me stating I had a XXXX and nothing could be done. Eventually I received an ER bill in excess of {$5000.00}. When I applied for XXXX through the ‘brand new ‘ ( at the time ) XXXX XXXX healthcare exchange, a number of problems occurred outside my control with the system and it ‘s implementation. Eventually, XXXX corrected the errors and said they would pay for my bill. By the time they admitted to their mistake, the hospital sent my bill to a collection agency.
I contacted the collection agency with a Eligibility Letter of Authorization dated XX/XX/XXXX where they told me they ” could not send paper bills ” and ” tried to charge XXXX electronically but were denied. ” They requested that I, as the consumer, bill XXXX directly and just pay them with my own money as I could be reimbursed by XXXX. This I know is not true. They are refusing to use the actual way to pay the bill.
