Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX I received a letter stating that I owed a XXXX bill from my old telephone/tv service account as an early termination fee. I did not terminate service I merely moved across town and kept the service, they would not resolve the debt and it was in the hands of Eastern Account System of Connecticut. At that time, I made a payment of XXXX. The remaining balance I did not pay, it was a complete oversight. I DID NOT receive a reminder call, letter or email. I sold my house and am in a new home, I am a widow and mother of XXXX seniors going to college, I would have expected a little understanding with my situation. I am financing my new home now and a collection debt for XXXX is on my credit report lowering my rating dramatically. I called up the company, I made another {$25.00} payment and said I would like to settle this account, the balance is XXXX, I told the agent ” XXXX XXXX ” XXXX ext. XXXX, I would like to pay it in full, she was rude and said she was not going to remove it from my credit report, I can pay it but her company DOES NOT remove negative or derogatory remarks from credit reports. This collection agency ” Eastern Account System of Connecticut ” did not follow up with me, they DID NOT make any attempt to clear this up and when I am now trying to resolve this matter, they will not remove the negative from my report, lowering my score 30 points! I am trying to move forward and this company is abusing its power and is not working with consumers for a positive result, they appear to be against the consumer and on a mission to ruin people ‘s credit scores regardless of whether they pay or not.
