Consumer Complaint: My identity was stolen in XX/XX/XXXX, which coincided with the birth of my XXXX child, making it very hard for me to spend the hours needed on the phone to try to fix my credit. Nonetheless, I was successful in removing all fraudulent accounts – or so I thought. Apparently an account with XXXX/XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX was opened on XX/XX/XXXX, around the same time my credit was frozen. I had no knowledge of this account until I checked my credit report in XX/XX/XXXX and saw that there was a collection on it. I inmediately contacted the company, XXXX XXXX XXXX, via email and phone. I was referred by them to Halsted Financial Services, and spoke to XXXX, a supervisor. I sent them a copy of my police report as requested and verified that the account had been opened fraudulently. However, it has been a YEAR and they have failed to remove it from my credit report. I am now facing paying {$40000.00} in additional interest on a mortgage due to the ongoing effect on my credit score.
