Guildchrest Financial – Consumer Complaint – July 1, 2019

Consumer Statement:

I was looking for a loan for debt consolidation. I applied on Lender Direct. The next day I was contacted by a rep from Guildcrest Financial in Ottawa, Ontario. I thought Christopher Thompkins was contacting me through my Lending Direct search. I was after a couple of days told they would loan me $10,000. After a day or so he called me again saying the lender thought I was high risk and did I have collateral. Not having much of value he said they needed monies up front of $850 which would be refundable after 3 to 12 months of loan payments. Sent by etransfer to a supposed employee but it was a Gmail account. Then,after a day or so of me continuously calling, I was told they required another $750 which I scraped together and sent to another supposed employee via etransfer to Gmail account. Couple days later when I got a hold of him he told me they turned me down for the loan. I asked for my $1600 refunded and he told me I needed to pay $299 fee to get refund! Not happening!

Each time I called I got a recording of a female. Once in a while Christopher Thompkins answered but he was only human to whom I spoke.

Consumer Action Taken:

I asked CT to deduct $299 from my refund. Said that couldn’t be done.
