In order to stop the garnishment you have to pay the balance in full. Payment plans will not stop federal offsets.

If the garnishment has started and XXXX decides to consider settlements in XXXX , yes, paying a settlement in full would stop the garnishment as doing so would remove the lien attached to your social.

The only way to prevent garnishments of federal funds is to pay the account in full. The lien on your social will remain in place until the debt is satisfied.
