Consumer Complaint: On or around XXXX of 2017 , I discovered that someone opened up an account with XXXX using my personal information. The way I found out was because my phone services with XXXX XXXX XXXX were disconnecte d one da y. I called XXXX XXXX XXXX and asked them why. They told me XXXX requested my account to be terminated. XXXX XXXX XXXX tried to help me by calling XXXX on a three way call. We spoke to XXXX and told them I did not open an account with them and that I have been a customer of XXXX XXXX XXXX for 12 years. After clarifying to XXXX customer service that someone pretending to be me opened the account with bad intentions just to make my life difficult, they underst ood ( so they told me ) an d told me they would close out the account. Three months later I received a notice from a collection agency trying to collect a debt I did not owe in the amount of {$300.00} on behalf of XXXX . I tried to resolve the issue with them and did not hear from them anymore. Now I get another collection notice but this time from a different collection agency attempting to collect a debt they claim I owe with XXXX . The agency ‘s name is AMSHER COLLECTION SERVICES, and the amount they are trying to collect is {$180.00}. Now XXXX is trying to collect a smaller amount than before. I have called XXXX to try to resolve to no avail. They just keep assigning the account to different collection agencies. I spoke to XXXX on XXXX XXXX , 2017 and spoke to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and said that the collection agency AMSHER was not notified of my XXXX balance and that they will notify them immediately. I am not convinced that this will be the case which is why I ‘m filing this complaint to protect my credit report.
