Consumer Complaint: I have been informed that negative information was reporting on my credit report by a collection agency with the name CMRE. I contacted this company by certified mail twice. on X/XX/2017 & XXXX XXXX XXXX to get validation of debt amount owed. This company has failed to reply or send me any type of mail about this debt that they are falsely reporting on my credit report. I have received confirmation through the USPS that this company received my certified letters but have yet to respond in a timely manner. I gave this company well over 30 days to send me validation of debt owed on the first go round and have not received anything since. This company states I owe XXXX $ but I will not pay this collection agency any of my money without validation. This company have not contacted any of the credit bureaus to mark my account and disputed which now they are violation of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act & Protection under the FCRA Section 623. I need this to be removed from my credit report due to this inconvenience. I have been trying to get this company to validate this debt. I have called this company multiple times, spoke with manager & before she could give me any info, she released the line in my face. I did receive all communication from this company & yes this company has marked this account as disputed on my credit report. however I asked to company to validate this debt bearing some time of contract bearing my signature but this company is only ” verifying ” this debt by sending me a statement. Per the FCRA I am entitled to have the debt validated per my request. As per FTC opinion letter from Attorney XXXX XXXX XXXX, you should be aware that a printout of a bill or itemized document does not constitute verification. Not only is this company blatantly disobeying the law & being willful non-compliant but also not giving me what I am respectfully asking for. I have also attached all the communication from CMRE as well as the letters I sent to CMRE as proof that they are ignoring my request by only sending me a statement & no contract bearing my signature I have been requesting documentation from the company since XXXX of 2017. I have no choice but to make a few more complaints with the Attorney General as well as file a claim in small claims court that is near my local venue. I have all documents between me & CMRE and will use this as evidence that my request is not being fulfilled but yet still reporting inaccurately on my credit report. I am again formally requesting a copy of any documents, bearing my signature, showing that I have a legally binding contractual obligation to pay you the alleged amount. Additionally, please provide the name, address, and telephone number of each person who personally verified this alleged account, so that I can inquire about how they ” verified ” without providing any proof, bearing my signature. I sent a complaint through the BBB and this company CLOSED the complaint without giving any information of if they will be sending ” validation ” for the debt & not a itemized statement.
