Consumer Complaint: I received a credit monitoring alert on XXXX XXXX, XXXX which indicated that there was a new debt collection on my credit report. I retrieved the contact information of the company and contacted them immediately. When I told them I had n’t received anything in the mail the representative told me that information was sent to address that she indicated she knew was an old address from XXXX. When I asked about receiving a call about the debt the representative claimed that they had my current phone number and they attempted to call me but there was no answer. She claimed this call was attempted on XXXX XXXX, XXXX which was 13 days after the company supposedly inherited the debt according to their records. I checked with my cell phone carrier after going through the call log on my phone and there was no call from this company, or any foreign number in my call records for that day. The representative asked me to update my address, however, I declined because I know they have it if they have my current phone number which is a number I have had for the last two years. When I asked the representative why they did not update my address the same way they updated my phone number, she told me that the company does not change the address that the original creditor provides. Which to me makes no sense.
