Consumer Complaint: During my last weeks with XXXX, I made several attempts to make payment arrangements for the balance owed on my cellular phone bill. After having continuous phone service with them for 10 years, I was forced to port my phone number and take my business elsewhere due to their inability to work with my financial situation. I was unemployed but was starting a job in the next week ( XXXX XXXX, XXXX ) On the last day of my services I ported my number and transferred my business to XXXX XXXX.
At the time of the change, I was leasing a phone ( XXXX XXXX ). So I expected there to be some additional fees but not the fees that they tacked on and keep adding to. My final bill was {$260.00} for usage, taxes and fees. There is also a Purchase Option Price for the phone of {$110.00} XXXX totally expected ). Then they added an additional fee of Lease Cancellation of {$590.00}, for a grand total of {$1000.00}. When I called after receiving this astronomical bill, the representative stated I ‘d have to pay that fee whether I left or they disconnected my line. So I would not have had a choice. I am so furious with the way I was treated for years before finally getting mad enough to leave. And when I do I have to pay them for the privilege.
This is wrong on so many levels. And to add insult to injury, They sent my account to collections before I even received a final bill. My last 2 payments with them were XXXX XXXX, XXXX for {$100.00} and XXXX XXXX, XXXX for {$45.00}. But they rushed and sent my account to collections without allowing me a chance to deal with the frivolous charges they added to the account. Also for a period of time after me leaving, they had reps calling me asking me to come back offering me all these discounts. But the fact that they have no one available in customer service to discuss your issues when you ‘re having the issues and their lack of care for my situation although I had been a loyal customer, no amount of money could get me to go back for more bad treatment. I did, however, ask about the final charges and was told it would be the payoff for the phone and my final bill. The lease cancellation was never mentioned. I also brought to their attention that upon getting the phone I was told I ‘d be charged $ XXXX and they were charging me $ XXXX. That was one of the reasons I kept trying to call them.
Please help me resolve this bill fairly. Thanks in advance.
