Apex Legal Group Complaints: Myth vs Reality

Quick Answer: A consumer claims Apex Legal Group kept $11,000 of unaccounted funds after paying $25,065 for debt settlement services that only resolved $11,000 in debt. The company agreed to return $4,500 in fees but the consumer disputes owing the remaining $6,500 difference.

Consumer Statement:

Apex Legal Group agreed to help me settle $37,000 of my debt claiming that they would settle that amount for about 40-60% of that total. I agreed and in summary paid them 25,065.6. OF that monies $11,000 was used to pay off debt. APEX returned $2600 of my money as that was kept in “savings” ;eaving about $11k left of money unaccounted for. I demanded a reimbursement as this to me was unacceptable and they I essence agreed to return another $4500 to me claiming that was their fees. I feel I am owed a full reimbursement of $11k of unused funds.

Consumer Action Taken:

Most money news tells you what happened. I tell you what to do about it.

Every weekday I read the enforcement actions, filings and fine print the outlets skip, and turn them into the one or two moves that actually improve your position — a rate worth moving for, a fee you can refuse, a deadline to beat before it costs you.

I write Your Money Actually most weekdays — actionable money information you will not find anywhere else, and the small decisions that compound. It is free, I sell nothing, and I take no money from any company I write about.

I contacted Venki Prasad who reluctantly agree to repay me $4500 in what they said were collected fees.
