Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX is attempting to collect an old tax debt, from the state of Louisiana. I had prior arrangements with the State of Louisiana, as I no longer live there. But, the state of louisiana sent the tax bill to a third party debt collection agency AKA performant recovery. Performant in return sent a letter threatening to LEVY my bank account. Only State and Federal tax people can do this, not a third party debt collection agency. They are attempting to bypass the law, and levy our account. I am on XXXX, therefore they can not levy this account. We are also on a low income, my hubby does n’t make that much money and it would cause undue hardship. By law, they have to go to court first, then obtain a judgment. I had to go through this with Ohio state.

I am disputing this debt, as it originally was only around {$1500.00} now it ‘s escalated to around {$4000.00} performant is not allowed to charge excessive amounts PER the law. I have filed complaints with the BBB, and the Ohio AG, as they are impersonating Government Tax officials. I have filed with BBB and ohio AG, and the FTC, this company refuses to respond. They can not levy my bank acount with out going through the court of law first.
