Before anyone plans to sign a contract with GM Law / Kevin Mason / NLSS please google search ‘Kevin Mason Law Scam’. He is currently being sued by multiple people. Below is an affidavit of a whistle blower who worked for NLSS. Very interesting document.

I was able to get out of my contract with them for a full 100% refund but not before Gregory Fishman and Jon Sabia left me very nasty voicemails.

I have personally spoke with Steve Hofer and he’s as genuine as it gets. If you’re currently still under contract with these companies, please reach out to him.

    Mr. Rhodes:

You stated in an article you wrote recently that you ” Kinda feel sorry for me”.
Mr. Rhodes, I “Kinda feel sorry for you as well”.

I was not aware of the lawsuit with Mr. Hoffer or any aspect of a settlement, nor was I aware of yours or Robert Farrington’s on-line publications until after the postings.

Simply, I bring forth that which you are possibly unaware, as was I.

    Subject: Important info for you

    Hello Julie,

I wanted to bring to your attention some information I found. Jon Sabia asked me to see if I could find out who swamileoni is on the College Investor site. After researching this a bit I did find some interesting information. Attached please find that our cancelled client Dominic Murphy does have an alias Nick Leon. After researching his Instagram and Facebook accounts it is apparent that the two are one in the same. I went into the clients cancelled file and looked at his loan validation information for his student loans. It is very interesting that the name at the top of the page shows Dominic Murphy but the signature says Nick Leon…………. Also on the College Investor he mentioned getting a full refund, so I looked at the refund letter and it is signed the same way, as Nick Leon.

Just wanted to share this with you.

I have some experience with law firms, and everything I’ve read here sounds like National Legal Staffing Support (NLSS) et al are running a classic scam. (Everything, that is, except the post by ChargerRT1983, who sounds like an NLSS plant.) Competent law firms do not work the way the posters here say Joe DeVito and NLSS work. What’s more, everything NLSS say it’ll do for lots of money is stuff that you can do yourself for free with just a bit of Internet research, letter-writing, and follow-up.

I don’t know Steven Hofer from Adam, but I’d trust him and his consumer-protection law firm over NLSS any day, and I hope he wins his suit against them. I can’t believe NLSS can get away with this stuff, but that’s the sad state of consumer protection in America these days. By and large, we 99% folks are largely defenseless against scamsters unless we can get a consumer-protection lawyer to take our case in a class-action suit, which is time-consuming and expensive.

I went to the federal court records (Public Access to Court Electronic Records: PACER) and read Steven Hofer’s first amended complaint against NLSS et al. It’s damning. You can read it here:

I’m in this same boat right now. Can anyone share updates? I am sick over this and don’t know where to turn. I see there was a recent lawsuit against them for this.

so I have been following this thread of information because I have been thinking about using GM Law Firm to help me with my debt. I have to say the information I have been reading is very hard to follow. the link a couple comments above, posted by user Colleague is very misleading as well. it directs you to a link that shows a lawsuit, “Castellanos vs GM Law Firm” however, if you actually look up the lawsuit it shows that it has ben dismissed, I have attached a copy of the pdf dismissal I downloaded. It seems as though this Attorney Hofer has some sort of personal gripe with GM Law because the case with Castellanos was dismissed, however he is back on this forum searching for potential clients again? This is all very confusing as the information i have pulled up about GM Law Firm doesn’t lead me to believe they are Fraudulent or bad. It simply shows that there are a few clients that just aren’t happy. I’m going to keep following this info thread for more information before i make my decision and do some further research. I hope what i have found here is helpful to others.

Subject: Steve Hofer’s Post on The College Investor Student Loan Debt Forums

    Julie,

At Julie’s request I reviewed Steve Hofer’s most recent post on The College Investor Student Loan Debt Forums to assess whether the communication may violate the Indiana Rules of Professional Conduct. The post at issue states the following:

I can’t check this message board very often, and I don’t want my email address spammed. Some states might consider this to be ATTORNEY ADVERTISING MATERIAL.)

That communication likely violates Rule 7.3(c) of the Indiana Rules of Professional Conduct in two ways. First, any electronic communication soliciting employment must include the words “Advertising Material” at both the beginning and the end of the communication. While Mr. Hofer includes the necessary language at the end of the communication, he omits it from the beginning of the communication. Mr. Hofer also undermines the significance of the disclosure by stating that “[s]ome states might consider” his communication to be advertising material.

Second, attorneys are required to file all written and electronic communications that constitute advertising material with the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission and to pay a filing fee of $50. I doubt that Mr. Hofer filed the communication or paid the filing fee because he posted the communication above almost immediately after he deleted his previous communication on the forum that I had asked him to delete in accordance with the settlement agreement.

Mr. Hofer’s post could include a false or misleading communication in violation of Rule 7.1 of the Indiana Rules of Professional Conduct. The only sentence that might be false or misleading is “I have received complaints about Kevin Mason, GM Law Firm, and National Legal Staffing Support LLC from people located in multiple states.” The rest of the post simply identifies Mr. Hofer and describes his practice and how to contact him.

Mr. Hofer has told me that he received complaints from people other than Joseph Castellanos, Bethany Castellanos, and Michael Ponder (the plaintiffs in the case we settled), who live outside Indiana, but that he decided not to represent those people. For that reason, Mr. Hofer contends that his post does not relate to the lawsuit we settled and, therefore, is not covered by the confidentiality clause in the settlement agreement. If his statement concerning the source the complaints is true, then his post – standing alone – does not violate Rule 7.1.

Even if all the statements in Mr. Hofer’s post are true, he may have engaged in a misleading communication, if he coordinated with a third-party to generate interest in his post by making the post look responsive to a genuine legal inquiry. Less than two hours before Mr. Hofer posted his communication, a user going by “Italipino” posted the following comment:

If Mr. Hofer coordinated with Italipino or himself posted using the alias Italipino, then his communication could be considered misleading because it seems to respond to a genuine inquiry about GM Law Firm when no such inquiry existed.

If you want to ask the Indiana Disciplinary Commission to investigate Mr. Hofer, you can complete a Request for Investigation, available at this link: https://www.in.gov/judiciary/discipline/files/grform.pdf

Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.

  2. Things went nowhere. They are still able to practice law in Florida and still in good standing with the Florida Bar. They are all crooks and I don’t understand how they are able to continue to do this.

  3. This is great news. I contacted you about this almost 2 years ago and almost published my letter to the FL Attorney General, I opted out because I was afraid I wouldn’t get my refund. I still have it and also have verbally abusive voicemails from both Fishman and Sabia when I told them I wanted my money back. Bunch of low life crooks preying on the unfortunate. I hope the judge throws the book at them.
