Consumer Complaint: I returned to school in XX/XX/XXXX. At that this time my student loans that are serviced by Navient went into deferment. I continued to make payments every month on my student loans over the amount of the interest, payments were normally around {$450.00} as to make sure that I was saying ahead on them. I called into Navient and was told that my overpayment would be equally applied ( after interest was paid on my unsubsidized loan ) to each of my student loans unsubsidized and subsidized. In XX/XX/XXXX I was reviewing all of my loan documents as I was ready to come of deferment and realized that Navient had only applied the overpayment to the subsidized loan to that they could keep the unsubsidized loan at as high of an amount as possible to collect more interest on it. From XX/XX/XXXX to present I have had to email and request that all overpayment be put toward my unsubsidized loan so I can even out the loan amounts so I am not paying almost three times the interested on one loan over the other. They implemented an online process that asks where you want the overpayment to be allocated to but even after you select between the options they still only put the amount to cover the interested to the unsubsidized loan and the rest to the subsidized loan and I have to email or call in to get it reallocated. As a company they are very dishonest by not doing what the consumer is requesting and even pretending to put in a program that will help with it but still resorting to their old ways.
