  1. We paid money up front for two years and there was very little contact with us. Creditors began to contact us saying they could not reach them. None of our emails or phone calls were answered. Just left hanging. Very unhappy!

  2. This company is awful, don’t get scammed. I was sued by all of my creditors, and my credit is worst then it was before I signed with Herritage. I will be digging out of my credit situation for a looooong time.  Do yourself a favor, and just call your credit card company and ask for a payment plan. Please do not get involved with this company!!!! If you have any questions email me at dhwindham@aol.com.

  4. I was sued by two different compaines that I was trying to settle on. I do think that Heritage should tell you its a possibility but honestly I also think people should do their homework before entering into a contract with a debt relief company. If you think about it, you arent paying these companies so they do have the right to sue. (to be a devils advocate, when you signed up for the credit card you agreed to their terms which state you can be sued) I was sued by Orchard bank and by Citi bank, however I called heritage right away after receiving my summons and they worked with the lawyers of those two companies and I was able to resolve the issue with a 40% payment of the total bill. The lawyers of these companies even filed for a dismissal of the suit with the courts. The funny part is I still had another orchard bank credit card that I was currently making payments for since it was only like $200 and they kept my account open and I have yet to have a problem with them. Also, I had a Macy’s account that citibank took over and they just wrote off the total balance, I owed them nothing. Silly considering they sued me on the real citibank card I had. But I will say that heritage should tell you its a possibility since people might not do their own homework and they should also tell you that you may receive a 1099 from the creditors on the debt they wrote off that you have to fike with your taxes.

  5. I dont work for the company and they did as per their contract. Yes I agree that you can settle on your own with the credit card companies but I cant say that heritage didnt do their job. You have to make sure you inform them that you have money to settle accounts or they wont settle them. Sometimes they would call me to ask how much I have to settle and other times I would call them to let them know I could settle.

  6. I have just canceled with Heritage and I should have months ago. I too had three different people working with me. Anyways to the point, they took over $5000.00 of my money and promised to help. I actually had better luck settling 2 of my credit cards on my own! Even though I paid them. They are a crock and they just tell you what you want to hear. I also got sued 5 times. They don’t pay the $100 fee to answer the 5 summons I got either. Now I’m filing for bankruptcy. They don’t care and you are way better off talking to a bankruptcy lawyer for free and or talking directly with your creditors. Getting sued is not fun. Bankruptcy isn’t either but I really could have used that $5000.00 to actually pay some debt off!!!! HDR Sucks!

  8. I used to be a client relations manager for Heritage. The sad truth is the majority of the clients have their lives ruined, by creditors. Enrolling with these clowns pretty much guarantees you will be sued

  10. I am planning to do that as soon as I get out of my court predicament that I am stuck in and get my debt settled, which is quite an experience I must say! I am also considering the Attorney General’s office. Thanks for the suggestion.

  14. I am in the exact same position as Jamie, being sued by Citibank(Blitt and Gaines) because of Heritage not protecting in the way I felt they should. When I called and told them about this they said not to worry about it,it was common. It is not common to be sued and for an amount almost 8000 dollars more than I turned over to them. I was told that in turning my accounts over to them they would stop the charges and interest and that has not occurred at all. They will not answer my emails or phone calls after telling me to email or call anytime. I have had 3 different case workers in less than a year so they never really know what cards they even hold for me or what is going on. THIS HAS BEEN THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE! Please do not put yourself in this position.

  15. I was with Heritage and I would say they are just so-so. If you cannot get enough lump-sum dollars together for a quick settlement (less than a year), then I would not recommend doing debt settlement. I have been sued by Citibank thanks to Heritage. I didn’t understand that the possibility of being sued existed when I was discussing all of this with the HDR representative.

I will say, that they were able to settle one account for me, at 30% of the balance with BofA and the person I worked with was highly responsive and helpful. I have had to go out on my own with the other three cards and would like to advise folks that if you are calm, curteous, and honest with the creditor then they will treat you in kind and will work with you. The only time anyone got nasty was with Citibank (Blitt and Gaines were their collectors) and it was a nightmare that I’m still in the process of trying to get squared away. Work with Heritage, or any debt settlement company, at your own risk.

  16. I feel that this is an inaccurate statement. I have used Heritage and found them to be extremely helpful. They performed according to their contract and I got great settlements – some less than 25 cents on the dollar – the best offers I could from the creditors direct were for 60 – 75 cents on the dollar. Even with their fee I saved lots of money! I definitely recommend them!!!!!!!

    • How long before they actually started working on your settlement?
Was a lot of interest added to the original amount.Did all credit card companies settle with you in less than 2 years?

  17. I would not recommend this company to anyone. We paid this company monthly to help us resolve our debt and got nothing in return. They never helped us settle anything. We did not discuss settling any of our debt until I started to receive letters stating that I was being sued. So now I am out over $3000.00 and can not get that money back. THEY DID NOTHING FOR ME AND WILL NOT GIVE ME A FULL REFUND!! THEY WILL NOT EVEN RETURN MY CALLS TO DISCUSS. I would not recommend to anyone!!! You can settle debt on your own, without paying anyone. The credit card companies understand if you give them your story. They will work directly with you!!
