  • F.I.R.E Employee

I used to work at F.I.R.E. yes they are a scam. The main office ( of roughly 15 people) was in Tequesta, FL. Before they closed it down they had already started transferring everything to Panama ( yes the country). They never had any office at the address in NY that clients were given. I don’t really know how any mail was retrieved from there. There is no F.I.R.E office in the US other than the few sales offices which are just telemarkers basically to sell “the program” over the phone and then all of their info is emailed to Panama. I worked there for a few years and there was never more than 3 employees that were the “negotiators” with the creditors and usually just 2. The longer I worked there the more I saw how there was zero interest in anything other than enrolling “clients” and collecting the down payments ( which was the majority of their income since the clients were not able to keep up with the payment schedule). The clients payment plan was set up to be in F.I.R.E.’s favor not the clients. Their circumstances never mattered and no impact on how anything was done after the down payments were collected. Their hardship letters didn’t matter they were just filed away and all of their statements that were mailed in were never seen unless the client actually called in. I am disgusted that I was ever employed by such a place and still cannot believe they are allowed to conduct business in the US because they moved the “main office” to Panama although the sales offices were at the time of my employment in the US. And I’m pretty sure still are. Please if you are reading this and have a financial situation do not trust this company with your financial wellbeing and future, you will regret it I promise, and be in a worse situation than when you started. Do your research and read all of the horror stories that are posted online. I have read many of them over the years and they are true and these are just a very small percentage of what I saw while I worked there. I hope my experience has helped anyone before they commit to this company.

FIRE (which became Fire International) has been GREAT to me so far. They’ve given much a bunch of tools (including viewing sites like this) to educate me. This stuff is not as scary anymore. Debt and collections is really interesting. I really feel like I am in control and I know the rules of “the game” a little more. Collectors ONLY tactic is fear over everyone.

    Review questions:

    * How did you feel about the customer service experience you received?

Love it! Everyone is really nice. Sometimes it’s hard to understand some of the agents because they have accents, but they’re all really patient and understanding with me.

    * Was the company easy to communicate with before or after you became a client?

They called me a bunch during the signup process. They usually call me at least once a month now.

    * Did the company respond to your communications promptly?

They usually answer emails pretty quickly.

    * What were the fees charged for the services you received?

    15% of my accounts.

    * Did the company give you the terms and conditions for the program you were interested in before you gave them any personal information?

Yes. They gave me my schedule and then I agreed to it and filled out a contract.

    * Was the program successful for you and accomplish the goals you had when you entered the program?

So far it has been. I am not finished yet.

    * Did you have a really good experience you can share?

Once when I called in I spoke with Chadrick who was very nice to me on the phone. He was patient and explained the collection process. He explained it to me in a common sense way that I think showed his experience with the process. Whenever I told him “and they said that they don’t work with Fire International” he said “and they probably told you that they haven’t received any correspondence and that debt settlement is a scam” and he was totally right! He explained that it’s very common for the creditors to say the same thing over and over again.

Another really great moment was when I got a collection notice from a creditor. Samantha emailed me a letter to print and send to the agency. Afterward, it came back that I did not have to pay the account because it was too old for them to prove that it was mine. It was a smaller account, only $600, but it was nice to know that they saved me paying on an account that I didn’t have to.

    * Did you have a bad experience you want to share?

During the beginning part of March, their systems were updating and they couldn’t give me detailed information. They’ve since come back on now.

    * Is there any other information you’d like people to know that might be considering the services of this company?

They’re a good company. They tell you the good, the bad, and the ugly when you sign up. So far everything they’ve said has pretty much happened, creditors can still call, an account can only be settled when enough money has been saved up, and it can hurt your credit. I think this is true of any other company though.
