“Dear Steve,
I had signed up for ballys fitness center more than 2 years ago.
i went there for a few months but since then i moved out of town and changed 2 cities in the next 1 year. befor moving, i called their local center in my town to cancel but they said i was under a 2 year contract and i need to call their seattle office (and they wud never answer the call or the voicemail there) eventually i realised i had been paying them lot of free money and called my card issuer to cancel it. now those scumbags have put a 300$ bill on my transunion credit report. what can i do to get it off my report now ?
Please suggest me a way to get that bally’s shit off my report
Jack”
Dear Jack,
So the issue is you had a contract with Bally’s and cancelled the payment method without canceling the contract.
The health club contract crap typically ends up like your situation.
Years ago the credit reporting companies refused to list gym membership issues. Looks like they are again.
As much as you might not want to pay it, there is no dispute you signed a contract and then, for whatever reason, did not cancel the contract with Bally’s, but stopped payment. In the future, make sure you work out a termination agreement that you and the merchant both agree to before you simply stop paying.
Seems to me that you owe it.
And since this is now being reported negatively on your credit report, paying it will not remove the past negative history, just stop it from being reported negatively in the future. That negative item will now remain on your credit report for seven years from the time the delinquency was reported.
Please update me on your progress by posting updates here in the comments section of your question. I’m very interested in how this works out for you.
Steve
