We need to find a mortgage relief program. We are going to be 3 months behind.

Just recently lost my job, though my income is smaller of the 2, a pay check of mine and my husbands will not cover the monthly mort.

So now without my income we need to find some help,any advise on the best programs??

  1. I paid a Law firm $1,500.00 to help with a loan Mod. after 12 months they went out of business. Keep your head up and stay positive!

  2. Find out if you might qualify for a loan modification under the Home affordable program. Go to http://www.treasury.gov and search for “home affordable modification program”.
    If you know that you qualify, keep on the bank several times and week. Make sure that they do what they say they will.

    Also, look up a local social service organization. Just ask around to see who knows what. There may be some  local programs that you are not aware of.

    Quickly go to http://www.hud.gov and search for certified housing counselors in your area. Start calling those that offer foreclosure prevention services until you find one that can meet with you very soon. The three month window is a very important one and your options are going to change very soon.

    Your only other good option if no one can see you within a week is to call the Homeowner’s HOPEâ„¢ Hotline at 888-995-HOPEâ„¢ for a phone conference. I would strongly suggest not replying to ads by real estate agents and attorneys offering assistance. Take advantage of free counseling first and don’t pay anyone until you have exhausted the free, government supported services.
