Christian Debt Consolidators / A New Horizon – Consumer Complaint – 6-11-2012

Consumer Statement:

My wife and I (Brad and Heather McLellan) contacted Christian Debt Consolidators (Website: http://www.christiandebtconsolidators.net/) in June of 2009 in order to consolidate credit card debt. We signed an agreement with Christian Debt Consolidators in order to get the credit cards consolidated. This agreement had an initial fee in the amount of $597 which is to be refunded to us if we completed the program.

We completed the program in January 2012 and sent Christian Debt Consolidators the required documentation of the completion certificate, payment history which shows no late payments and the cash back reward form in order to receive our refund of $597 as promised in the agreement.

Several attempts to contact Christian Debt Consolidators have been made since January with no response. I finally received a phone call in which the representative from the company told me that they could only afford to refund $300 of the total $597 and that I would need to sign an agreement not to make complaints about the company.

I refused to sign the agreement and demanded a full refund of $597. I have everything documented from the beginning to end with copies of all agreements and correspondences. I believe Christian Debt Consolidators is not only stealing my money but are stealing other people’s money that are already in a bad financial situation.

Also, I would like to mention that our account was sold to another company A New Horizon (2700 Cypress Creek Road, Suite D129, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33309. Phone: 954-545-6160) from Christian Debt Consolidators after the agreement was signed. A New Horizon was the company that actually handled the consolidation of credit card debt and administered the account until completion.

Thank you.

  2. Hi Brad,
I saw your complaint and did some research.  I have dealt with credit counseling companies for years and learned the hard way that a select few do not follow rules.  In order to take Alabama clients the company must be registered with the Security Exchange Commission in Alabama.  I contacted them at 800-222-1253, where I was informed that Christian Debt Consolidators and A New Horizon were not registered; therefore neither of these companies should have provided services to you in the first place.  I would highly recommend you file a complaint with the Florida Attorney General, as well as the Better Business Bureau in Florida.  Hope this information helped.  Congratulations on getting out of debt and good luck getting your money back!
    Hope this helps!
    Sincerely,
    Shelly
