Green Student – Consumer Complaint – July 29, 2014

Consumer Statement:

I contacted Green Student Loans last summer to help me lower my payments for my kids college loans of 150,000. They promised they would get me on income contingent program, which also qualifies me for public service forgiveness as i work for the government. They charged me 895.00 and 39/mo since July 2013. When I checked nelnet this summer i was still on the standard repayment plan. They had never submitted the paperwork!!! so not only did they cost me all that money for nothing, it also cost me a year of not being eligible for the public service forgiveness program and at 61 I dont have another 10 years of working life.

Consumer Action Taken:

I called them repeatedly and spoke to Lujan who said he would resolve it, we called nelnet and I am able to do all of this myself. Nelnet told me what they needed and within days i have a deferment, and new lower payement on the income contingent plan. Lujan was unwilling to repay my money, even tho he did not do what he said he would do. So i cancelled that 39/mo and now he says well you cancelled so we cant help you.
