“Dear Jon,
I have unpaid credit cards from banks, unpaid phone bills and I bought a laptop and a tablet on installment which I started to pay already. However my visa has run out and I had to return back to my home country. It’s been 8 months since I came back from UK and I am without a job since then. I have applied for a police certificate from UK, will my debts create a problem on the results of my police certificate. I am very worried. please advise.

Kapur,
I have a couple of questions to try and clarify your situation.

I am assuming you had lived in the UK, the debts are in the UK, and you are now living elsewhere?
What country are you now residing in?
The CRB or criminal record check you are applying for, is this for a Visa?
Having debt in the UK, and even having debt in the UK and leaving the UK, is in it self not a crime, and should not appear on any criminal background check. Even if your creditors had taken you to court for a CCJ/County Court Judgment, this is not a crime either.
The debts themselves should not be a problem.
Regards,
Jon
