Consumer Statement:
I received a call from an Anthony from “Western Portfolio Assets” yesterday stating that I was being charged for fraud on an old bank account, that they were going to serve me papers at my place of work, basically threatening me. Because I was so scared, I put down a payment of $1000.00 to stop them from coming to my office. After I had time to calm down, I did some research on this supposed company. On the BBB website, it states that this business is no longer in business. I spoke with my bank (fraud, collections, claims) that the supposed charge and lawsuit was coming from. They told me in no waydo I have any open debts nor are they suing me. I immediately called my current bank and cut the payment off. I tried to call the number that they called from yesterday and received a shady voicemail saying “you’ve reached corporate” I received a phone call from the same Anthony guy today. I asked Anthony to send me the origi nal documents of who I owe money to and what the debt is for. He started yelling at me saying that I was making up excuses and I needed to pay. I told him that I had a right to the original documents and before I pay anything, I needed to see the documents. He then said “This is a waste of my time, I wish you the best” and he hung up
Consumer Action Taken:
I told Anthony that I wanted to see the original documents i was being “sued” for and he would not send them over.
