Dear Steve,
I’m not sure what year this was but I think it was in the 80s..? This student loan was about heavy equipment it wasn’t totally rip off I got a diploma I look for a job on heavy equipment and the gentleman said to me it’s not what you know about the machine it’s about how many hours you have on the machine then I found out the government shuts big heavy equipment down.
My question is 1 ..? How did I get a student loan not having a GED or a high school diploma question number two…? Can I sue the federal for long this to happen to me…? My reading is very poor I am using the speaker from my phone to do this I was in Special Ed the student loan is taking money from my Social Security which isn’t much it’s only 800 a month can you help me with this thank you and have a nice day.

It sounds like these are federal student loans and you raise a good point about what is called False Certification forgiveness.

There is a form to complete to apply for forgiveness.
What makes your situation challenging is that you attended school 40 years ago and it remains to be seen if the records exist from the school or if the False Certification Discharge existed at that time.
But, if your application for discharge is accepted the full balance of the loans would be forgiven tax-free.
