Consumer Complaint: Performant has been attempting to collect on my federal student loan debt for some time, but I am unemployed and currently on a rehab payment plan at a fairly low amount. However, according to some paperwork I signed over 15 years ago, they added 19 % collection fee to my {$91000.00} loan. They continually call, and I ‘ve stopped picking up the phone because it causes me XXXX XXXX . They mail me notifications that over {$100000.00} is due immediately. However, they recently sent a notification addressed to me to my parent ‘s address at a XXXX XXXX where I DO NOT LIVE. They are well aware of MY address, because they send me things. The last notice that was sent to my parents ‘ address, I had a caretaker write on the envelope to ” return to sender ” and ” remove this address from your records, ” and it was sent back. I learned today that another envelope has been sent, addressed to me at the XXXX XXXX . I am dealing with XXXX XXXX over this situation, and it ‘s not fair that almost {$18000.00} in collection fees has been added to an already high bill that I ca n’t pay. But trying to get my elderly parents involved is unacceptable. They are in extremely poor health, I ‘m an adult ( over XXXX ! ) and they do n’t need to be involved.
