Consumer Complaint: About a year ago, XXXX of 2016, I received a notification in the mail that it was my last chance to take advantage of a special program that provided relief for people buried in student debt. I investigated by calling the number that was provided and was guided through an information exchange process by a woman named XXXX XXXX . She claimed that if I gave her company my tax and personal information, I could partake in her company ‘s program that, in her exact words, ” would wipe out my federal student debt after 20 years of payments to them. ” This company was EQUITABLE ACCEPTANCE. What I did n’t know was that the way she planned on doing this was by lying on my behalf on a federal form. EQUITABLE fraudulently reported to XXXX , my loan servicer, that I had as many as XXXX dependents in order to get a $ XXXX monthly payment, then charged me {$40.00} a month for it. It shows up on my credit report as a credit card thats maxed out, on which I am making minimum monthly payments. EQUITABLE applied MY SIGNATURE to false information on MY BEHALF, took advantage of the stressful situation I was in, misled me with half-truths and took my money.
