Consumer Complaint: I spoke with Edfinancial by phone in early 2016 about my delinquent loans, and they offered me a period of time not making payments, followed by resumption of payments at a low amount which would increase over time. They stated that they would contact me just before the resumption of payments would begin – around XXXX. They never contacted me. I called and was told my loans were in default and being transferred. I argued, and eventually spoke with an ombudsman, who stopped the transfer of my loans and reinitiated the payment program as had been previously promised. However, Edfinancial had, in the meantime, reported missed payments for the period during which they had agreed I would not have to make payments. They refused to remove this from my credit report. I recently filed a dispute througfh XXXX and Edfinancial still refused. There are two loans and the period covered was months, so there are multiple entries and it significantly impacts my credit.
