Question:
Dear Steve,
My mom who is 80 years old and had valve replacement surgery in May of 2016, and has not been herself sense the surgery received a call from Sunshine Freedom Services in May of 2017 and in Oct of 2017, in May they had her transfer $2218 from a Credit Card to her checking account then had her write them a $500 check, then the balance of $1718 was returned to her CC, she told me that they had worked to lower her interest rates on her CC or something, then in Oct they contacted her again and she says she did not remember talking to them before, this time they ended up getting $1000 from her and they did nothing.
I see that the Federal Trade Commission has a law suite against them. What can I do to help my mom get her money back if anything?
Marie
Answer:
Dear Marie,
I just took a look at the current status of the FTC case against Sunshine Freedom Services. The case also involves Higher Goals Marketing, Brandun Anderson, Lea Brownell, Travis Teel, and Wayne Norris.
I’ve not had a chance to look thorough these public documents but they should be enlightening. I would encourage you to review them.

The big question is if the court receiver is going to recover money to repay victims. Historically the chances of recouping all the lost money is slim to none and a maybe chance to recover a bit.
I would expect to not recover anything.
