Medical bill; my insurance company’s statement shows my wife doesn’t owe the money. Finally received a Lawyer Letter, requiring payment.

I sent a certified letter, return receipt, disputing a debt. I have USPS proof they received my letter. I have not received a response from the recipient. It has been just shy of 60 day since I sent the original dispute letter. How long does the debt collector have to respond to my original letter of dispute?

Is there a time period at which I can assume the debt is not owed for lack of response from the Lawyer’s Office?

Dave”

Dear Dave,

Keep sending them about every three weeks till you get a response. According to one suit against a collection agency they didn’t both looking into the matter till they got four dispute letters.
