I Was Just About to Signup for Debt Smart America And Then I Found You. – Jessica

“Dear Steve,

About a year ago my job was re-structure and my salary dropped from $45k to $32K. My finances have suffered greatly and now I just can’t keep up. I have a total of $13K in credit card debt and 1 medical bill. I can’t even afford the minimums with all the other bills we have.

I was getting ready to sign up for credit help thru Debt Smart American and found them on your site. After reading the thread, maybe not a good idea. I racked up but now need help, unfortunately. I just want a safe, honest company to go thru.

Who is the best, honest company I can go thru?

Thank you, you saved me from what I think now was not wise decision.

Jessica”

Dear Jessica,

Before we jump to solutions, let’s make sure you are headed down the right path.

What you shared was that you’ve had a significant salary reduction and even the minimum payments are too much for you to deal with. That statement alone makes me feel a credit counseling program would not be appropriate.

And I’m also worried about your ability to save money at the same time you are struggling to meet the minimum payments. I bet you aren’t or can’t save at the same time you are struggling with your debt. Is that a correct assumption?

I’d like to suggest that before you do anything you read How to Get Out of Debt. The Honest and Unvarnished Truth.

My goal is to get you moving forward on a healthy path that will protect you financially from this day forward and not to let you make bad choices out of fear.

After you read the article I linked to, let me know your feeling by posting a response in the comments section below.

Sincerly,

You are not alone. I'm here to help. There is no need to suffer in silence. We can get through this. Tomorrow can be better than today. Don't give up.
