i went to school and accumulated 30,000 in student loans for a degree in medical assisting. Needless to say there aren’t any opportunies for me in the area I live. I now do home health care for a paralyzed woman. Can my student loans be forgiven due to the fact I now work with a disabled individual? I don’t make enough to pay my bills let alone my loans and there aren’t any medical assisting jobs available where I am due to colleges and degrees requiring intern and externships. The offices around here get months of free labor.
Can my loans be forgiven
Cheri”
Dear Sheri,
I’m not aware of any such loan forgiveness programs except for physicians or registered nurses who agree to work in specially identified disadvantaged areas. The most comprehensive listing or such programs I am aware of can be found here.
