Consumer Statement:

I have a couple of rather large credit card debts. I somehow listened to what they had to say on phone and for some reason believed what I was told by them over the phone, I got suckered into signing up for “debt resolution” with “National Consumer Law Group”. Now after taking money from me, (which I cannot afford) for 5 months. They started asking for more money, even though they admit and acknowlede that they haven’t even started negotiating with my creditors. On several occasions, they have said that they do not start this process until 6 months. To top it all off, I am now being sued by one of my creditors. In the contract, it states that I would receive the money that is in my so-called savings account and unearned fees. They are still agreeing that negotiations would not have occurred until I was in the program for 6 months. Since they have not done anything except set up an account (I guess), take my money, rui n my credit, and ask for more money, they have not “earned” a penny of my money. These companies need to be shut down. They prey on the vulnerable and sometimes desparate.

Consumer Action Taken:

After being asked for money, then receiving a summons stating I was being sued by one of my creditors, I realized this was a “scam” and called the “National Consumer Law Group” to terminate the program. They did put some money back into my checking account from which they have been taking money out of. But they shorted me. I spoke with them several times, expressing to them that they have not “earned” any of my money and I should get a full refund. I feel I should get more of a refund than around 25% of what they took.
