Dump of Debt Relief Offers Raises More Concerns Than Answers

Written by Steve Rhode

As part of my I Buy Junk Mail program, Eve sent in a number of recent debt relief mailers that landed in her mail box.

Imagine how the average person would be able to decipher the claims made or even begin to understand what company would be able to offer the debt service or solution.

As you can see in the mailers below, several are wildly generic, seem to spoof official looking government logos or forms, and never describe who the company is.

Let’s look at the facts each mailer states

Debt Settlement Offer Comparison
Company NameAddressClaimed Debt AmountClaimed Settlement AmountMonthly Payment
Unknown409 Alberto Way, Suite 2, Los Gatos, California 95032$16,000$9,600$291
Debt ServicesPO Box 4672, New York, NY 10163$15,000$7,500$225
Debt ServicesPO Box 4672, New York, NY 10163$15,000$7,500$225
Lifeline Debt Relief65 Broadway, Suite #1702, New York, NY 10006$15,000$6,750$225
NetDebt, Debt Mediation Initiative, DMI6400 Pinecrest Drive, Suite 400, Plano, TX 75024$15,000$9,750$325

I’m not sure how any average person could make any sort of comparison or sense out of the lake of facts presented. There is no evidence the examples given are the average performance of each advertiser. Some of the mailers appear generic enough to potentially be just lead generators and not even sent by the specific debt relief company.

If you had these mailers laid out on a table in front of you, how would you make the selection? Would you do it by monthly payment or proposed settlement amount?

As confusing as this can be for the average person to wade through, I have written these guides to check out who you might be working with.
