Why Can’t I Reach Anyone at USA Student Loans?

By on July 11, 2016

Question:

Dear Steve,

I have a $26,000 student loan debt. USA Student Loans called me to help relieve me of this debt for $665 to be paid in 6 months time and the rest of my student loan debt would be terminated. I cannot reach anyone to assist me with this at USA Student Loans.

I recently was contacted by USA Loans to settle my tuition debt for $665 and the rest of my amount would be terminated. I have paid for 2-3 months of the 6 months. I keep getting requests from my original student loan company for payment with the amount getting bigger.

I have called USA Loans 3-4 times leaving urgent messages for them to call me as well as sending 5-6 emails with the same request to no avail. How do I stop paying USA Loans? No one calls or emails be back. You can’t talk to a “person” but you have to leave a message. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Thanks,

Cheryl

Answer:

Dear Cheryl,

It looks like the company vanished sometime after March 4, 2016. That’s the last time the usastudentloans.org site was available to be archived.

The site at that time says the president and CEO was Schuyler Elliott. The BBB reported Mr. Schuyler R Elliott was the CEO and Mr. Josh Leiby, Marketing Director. – Source

It looks like I wrote an article about a USA Student Loans in 2013.

The BBB gives USA Student Loans and A+ rating as of today but I just informed them it looks like the company is gone.

The last posting on their Facebook page was on May 28, 2015.

Regarding how to stop your payment, I’d contact your bank. You might have to change your bank account number and they might be able to help you get some money back.

I’d be very interested to know where your debited money was going. Someone is getting it.

Just based on my few minutes of research I’d have to strongly lean towards you got scammed.
