Question:
Dear Steve,
I owe $135,000 in back taxes and have a monthly payment plan set up with IRS of $387/month.At the end of the year my balance is higher due to interest and penalties.
I would like to settle for a much lower amount and have been looking at Optima Tax Relief to represent me. What are your thoughts on this company?
Cliff
Answer:
Dear Cliff,
To be clear, I have no thoughts about Optima Tax Relief because they’ve never crossed my radar before.
I would suggest you use my free guides to check out any company you might be thinking of working with.

A quick look at the OptimaTaxRelief.com domain says it is owned by a Harry Lagenberg. That could be the same Harry Langenberg I’ve written about in the past.
I do see there are some other sites on the same server with OptimaTaxRelief. These are OptimaTaxExpress.com, OptimaTaxSchool.com, and TaxReliefPartners.com.
The only question raised in my quick look is Optima Tax Relief and Tax Relief Partners appear to be related and provide duplicate solutions. Not sure exactly why that is. They are both located at the same street address and Debtmerica Relief says they are located at the same street and suite as Optima Tax Relief. They appear to use the same logo image as well.
Bottom Line
I’ve never had an issue I think with Harry Langenberg. You will find the links above on how to check out a company. The fact a tax relief company and debt relief company are located in the same suite make me wonder if they are more of a marketing solution than subject experts. But I don’t know the answer to that.
Just do some research and make sure you are confident in your selection so you can move forward without hesitation if that’s what you want to do.
