I am a single lady with a single income. My 90 year old mother lives with me and I have found myself in over my head in CC debt accured over the past 3 years. Because of several different medical issues and necessary travel for work and church during this time I started using my CC and have not been able to keep up with the payments due to paying these other necessary bills that have arisen.
Anyway no excuse is good for the situation I find myself in financially at the moment. I have around 18,000 in CC debt that I would like to get back under control and be able to pay these off. I have not used any of the major ones for over 6 months now and only a couple of my store cards have I used. But between the monthly bills and doctor I find I cannot keep up even the minimum payments and still buy gas and food for the month.
What would be the best way for me to get my bills back under control? I was thinking of contacting a debt consolidation company when I found your site. Is this a good option for me or should I try to do it on my own? If so where do I start?
Let’s take this in stages. The first part is to explore some options and see if they give you the breathing room you need. I’d like for you to click here for credit counseling information and see if a debt management plan will give you some breathing room.
I’m not 100% confident it will but we should check it first based on what you’ve shared.
If you are already at a point where your obligations exceed your income then we may need to think about legal intervention to bring your life back within your income.
