My Husband Took Out a Loan Between Our Marriages. Am I Responsible? – Casey

“Dear Steve,

My husband has loan in his bank. He made this loan after our marriage but my name wasn’t there. He did it by himself. And he has apartment lease balance also. only his name is in the lease and my name is just an occupant. I live in state of Maryland.

Because he made the loans in between our marriage, am i responsible to pay some of his loans eventhough he did it by himself?

Dear Casey,

In between your marriage? Did you remarry him?

Anyway, the answer is no. If you were not part of the agreement then it is not your responsibility. If it was at a time you were not married then he was not your husband at that time but your ex-husband.
