Cockburn and Associates – Consumer Complaint – July 8, 2014

Consumer Statement:

I tried to get a personal loan with a bank to pay off my high interest credit card debt. But, got rejected, so I started to search for other ways. I saw a website for Cockburn & Associates, and filled out the form for more info. I got a call right away – I spoke with a rep, Mary Pallo, and she seemed really friendly and really wanted to help. I wanted to pay my debt off fast so I signed up. But then, my gut instincts told me something was off. Only after I submitted the forms and they had withdraw $880.11 from account, I googled them and saw so many complaints about how they are scam artists. I was advised that I can get a full refund within 30 days if I change my mind. So I contacted them ASAP.

Consumer Action Taken:

6 days after they had widthdrawn my payment, I contacted them right away to cancel my application and get me out of their program. That I want a refund asap. I emailed Mary Pallo, and their info@ address. No response. It’s funny how they are usually quick to respond but when it comes to refunds, you can’t reach them. So I called and left voice messages. No response. I finally get a call back from Mary Pallo, and even though I said cancel she was pushing me to stay. I insisted to cancel and she said she will contact their back office to give me a refund. She seemed shady about it.

Who do I call? Or contact to help get my money back? To some $880.11 may not be much, but to me it is! Also, I hate how they claim to help people but really they are thieves!
