SLS Managers – Consumer Complaint – October 14, 2014

Consumer Statement:

Jason told me he could help me with my student loans. He said that I qualified for the Student Forgiveness Program. I told him I had to talked to someone before they said didn’t qualify because I didn’t work for a non profit organization and plus I’m still in school. He said that he could do it, that you have to do things a different way with different loans. He said I would receive updates.

I called all the time they never gave me any update until July 21, 2014. I happened to have checked my credit report and saw that the same amount in loans were still there they were just consolidated. So I called Sally Mae to see what was going on they said SLS Managers sent a letter on you behalf to have your loans consolidated. I told them I was supposed to be part of the Student Forgiveness Program that when Sally Mae told me I couldn’t be part of it and that’s when they told me all I was paying for was for consolidation and I knew I could do that for free. Me talking to Sally Mae was on Septemeber26, 2014. I feel like I was scammed because I was told I was going to be in the Student Forgiveness Program and Jason didn’t say anything about consolidating my loans. I could of done that for free, why would I pay for that?

Consumer Action Taken:

I called them and talked to them and they said that I couldn’t cancel. They said that they had met there agreement. I told them they said I was part of the Student Forgiveness Program. Then they told me I can still pay and not have to deal with the consequences. I sent a letter by email and told me to cancel and then they had one of there people call me and harass me since then. They said that they would garnish my wages or take my whole check until it was paid off to them. The guy try to tell me I can’t pay my bill, I told him I never missed a payment. I said I was lied to and that is why I am canceling. I also said why would I pay for consolidation when I can get that for free?
