DA’s Office Wants to Give Money Back to Debt Free Associates Clients

I was contacted by the Monterey County DA’s Office in California who said they had recently settled a case with Debt Free Associates. As part of that settlement Debt Free Associates was to refund consumers but not a lot of people were coming forward to claim the funds owed them. Some felt it was a scam. The DA’s office asked if I could help spread the word so people entitled to refunds could get them.

According to public documents, on September 2, 2014, Debt Free Associates, LLC did in fact enter into a Stipulated Judgment with the Monterey County District Attorney and Contra Costa County District Attorney.

As part of that agreement, Debt Free Associates was to send the following letter to clients.

People entitled to restitution refund checks were consumers who “entered into agreements for debt settlement services with Defendant during the period of time from December 20, 2008 through May 21, 2013.” People eligible for refunds had to be California residents at the time they entered into the debt settlement agreement.

Eligible consumers are to receive a 100% full refund of all fees paid. “Fees paid to Defendant include, but are not limited to, the “Set-Up Fee,” “Enrollment Fee,” and the “Monthly Maintenance Fee.”

If you are one of the eligible consumers, stop sitting on your hands and get the refunds you are entitled to before it is too late to get your refund.
