I was looking on the internet for assistance with repaying my Student Loan. I was going through a divorce at the time, being required to pay child support, so I needed help. I was contacted by e rep. of Student Aid LLC. This individual, whose name I do not remember, told me that, based on my situation and income Student Loan Aid would be able to help. I would pay an installment of $138.00 (I think, its been some time since this happened) and after I would make monthly payments, from my checking account of $28.38 per month. All monies where taking out of my checking account. All was done either over the phone or internet. I received not actual paperwork from them. In Jan. 2016 2-3 years later I received from my lender stating my “deferment period was ending” and that they have received ZERO ($0.00) payments! I contacted them Navient, via telephone and they stated that the only thing Student Loan Aid was doing was using up my deferment period and that I was only paying them to do this in my behalf! Of which I could have done myself! So in the end they took my money I thought was going towards my repayment, used up all my deferment time, excluded/locked me out of any chance of changing this, rerouted all correspondence from my lender Navient to me! I was also given login credentials for their website to access my account which does not work. There is no way to login it take you to an error page.
Consumer Action Taken:
I contacted Student Loan Aid via email not by phone, to have proof of their deceptive business. But only received responses that I needed to “call them” to get an explanation. I wanted proof through email but they wouldn’t email any explanation. I have also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
