How Can I Find a Good Credit Counseling Company? – Landi

“Dear Steve,

Hello. I seem to have gotten myself deep in debt. I don’t want to file bankruptcy. Is there a good credit counseling, debt relief company/group that can help me lower payment or cut my debt. I have heard most freeze your accounts and it shows up on your credit.

Thanks for your help.

Dear Landi,

Basically your question is all about who can you trust. First, step would be to investigate your different debt relief options. You can click here for credit counseling information or click here to find a local bankruptcy attorney, you might even want to click here for debt settlement information.

Here is the bottom line, before you can worry about trust you first need to find the solution that will work best for you in your situation and for what you want to achieve.

I’m worried that even before this investigation begins you’ve already taken bankruptcy off the table and that would be a mistake. Take a close look at all of your options first before you make any decision about what is the right solution for you.

No matter what solution you eventually select there will be an impact to your credit report. The only way to avoid that would be to pay at least the minimum contractual payment as you are now, or pay the loan in full.
