“Dear Steve,
I was over my head in credit card debt and heard about this company on a local radio show. I notified this debt organization and they said they could help. I started with them in June 2008 up until March 2010. They withdrew monthly 1,000.00. So obviously I am out 18,000.00 and am now filing bankruptcy.

I want to know I guess there is no hope in claiming any of my lost money?
Susan”
Dear Susan,
At this point the bankruptcy attorney can claw back funds from the debt organization but those funds would most likely now go to your creditors.
Let your bankruptcy attorney know what happened.
Please post your responses and follow-up messages to me on this in the comments section below.

I did the radio show recommendation also. The only advertiser this host stood behind. They took roughly 3500$ from me. Every phone call ended with a disclaimer. They guaranteed at least 50% off your debt bill. They pitched how they can’t really say but usually the dropped your sent to 35%. When they finally settled one, it was at 60%. I was happy to save anything, thinking they did something unique and special. Their response was that once I got sued and it got to the lawyers, the percentages changed. But wait, there’s a guarantee…..right? Uh, yea but only to try their best.
I fired them. I called the credit card companies myself and settled at a better percentage than they got on a higher card. They aren’t special. You’re simply paying them to save you time.
I’ve negotiated 2 additional cards on my own and I have 1 more to go that hasn’t contacted me yet. I’m more relaxed and I sleep regularly.
