I have many student loans from being a foster child and providing for my own education. As a teacher and principal, then special education autism specialist, you are always having to get more credentials, thus I ended up going back to school and getting several masters and almost my PhD.
I tried to have them forgiven as I have only worked in areas geographically or in educational special needs where most will not work. But, that never happened.
I care for 11 people (2 families and my 15 year Marine disabled son) at this time. I am 66 years old. I have diabetes, chronic kidney disease and high blood pressure. I would like to retire, but that is impossible at this time because without my paycheck, I would be homeless.
I am going to my adversary hearing in a few weeks to try and discharge my my student loans and some back taxes. What questions can I ask in the interrogatories?

Dear Becca,
If these are federal student loans then it sounds like you would most likely qualified for forgiveness of the federal loans under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.
The program requires 120 on-time payments to be made after October 2007 so the first chance of forgiveness would not be until October 2017. Obviously you’d have to keep working to be eligible for the PSLF loan forgiveness at that time.
Regarding your bankruptcy proceeding, I am not a lawyer. You should get the assistance of a licensed bankruptcy attorney in your state for legal advice.
