-soon to pursue a Finance minor
-very interested in counseling people about debt and money problems
-eager to get people to change their mentally about spending more than they make

I just recently realized what I wanted to do for a living and that is helping people eliminate debt and manage their money using Christian principles. My motivation isn’t to take people’s money or make money off of old rich people, but to educate those who know very little. I found your site and was wondering if you could offer any advice in getting involved in this area. I really appreciate the response and enjoyed your site.

Dear LaShaundra,

The best place to start would be at your church. Ask them who they have relationships with that provides Christian based financial counseling. The two largest groups that come to mind that train Christian based counselors are Crown Financial Ministries and Dave Ramsey. Ramsey has a course he sells to train counselors and then sends referrals to counselors through some church network.
