Privacy Policy

I’m Steve Rhode, and this is GetOutOfDebt.org — a site I run to help people understand their debt relief options. This site is owned and operated by Flight Systems LLC. I take your privacy seriously, and this policy explains what information I collect, what I do with it, and what I don’t do with it.
The short version: I don’t sell your data, I don’t run ads, and I don’t have affiliate relationships with anyone.
What Information I Collect
When You Contact Me
If you use a contact form, email me, or submit a question, I receive the information you provide — typically your name, email address, and whatever you wrote. I use this to respond to you and, if appropriate, to publish your question (with your first name only) so others can benefit from the answer.
When You Leave a Comment
If you post a comment on the site, I collect the name, email address, and website URL you provide in the comment form, along with your comment text and your IP address. This is standard for WordPress sites and helps with spam prevention.
When You Use the Free Tools
This site offers free interactive tools — including calculators, quizzes, and checkers — that help you understand your debt situation. When you use these tools, here’s what happens:
- What I collect: The answers and selections you enter into the tool — things like your state, debt type, age range, monthly payment amount, or quiz answers. The specific data depends on which tool you use.
- What I don’t collect: These tools do not ask for or store your name, email address, IP address, or anything that identifies you personally. There is no way for me to connect a tool submission to a specific person.
- AI processing: Several tools use artificial intelligence (currently Anthropic’s Claude) to generate personalized educational results based on your inputs. Your inputs are sent to that AI service to produce your results. The AI service does not store your data after generating the response.
- How I store it: Your anonymous tool inputs and the results generated are stored on my server. Each submission is a standalone record with no connection to your identity.
- How I use it: I use this anonymous, aggregated data to understand what my readers are dealing with and to create better content. For example, I might report that “62% of retirement calculator users have zero retirement savings” or “the most common debt type in statute of limitations checks is credit card debt.” This helps me write articles that address real problems.
- What I don’t do with it: I do not sell this data. I do not share individual submissions with anyone. I do not attempt to identify who submitted what. The data is used only in aggregate to improve the site and its content.
When You Visit the Site
Like most websites, this site may use cookies for basic functionality — things like keeping you logged in if you have an account or remembering your preferences. I may also use analytics tools to understand how people use the site (which pages are popular, how visitors find the site). This data is aggregated and does not personally identify you.
What I Do With Your Information
- Respond to you — If you contact me, I use your information to reply.
- Publish questions — If you submit a question, I may publish it on the site using your first name only to help others in similar situations.
- Connect you with help — If you specifically ask to be connected with a professional (like a bankruptcy attorney or debt coach), I may forward your request to an appropriate person. I will not do this without your request.
- Improve the site — I use aggregated analytics data to understand what content is helpful and how to make the site better.
What I Don’t Do With Your Information
- I do not sell your personal information to anyone. Ever.
- I do not share your email address with third parties for marketing purposes.
- I do not run advertising on this site, so there are no ad networks tracking you here.
- I do not have affiliate relationships, so nobody is paying me to send you anywhere.
- I do not send unsolicited marketing emails.
When I May Share Your Information
There are limited situations where I may share information:
- Legal requirements — If required by law, subpoena, or court order.
- At your request — If you ask me to connect you with a specific type of professional help.
- Law enforcement — If I have reasonable grounds to believe the site is being used for illegal purposes.
Data Retention
Comments and published questions remain on the site as part of the public conversation. If you submitted a comment or question and need to correct something you said, you can post a follow-up correction or contact me.
Emails and contact form submissions are kept only as long as needed to respond to you. I do not maintain permanent archives of personal correspondence.
Third-Party Services
This site is hosted by a third-party web hosting provider, which means your visit data (IP address, browser type, pages visited) passes through their servers. I may also use:
- Google Analytics — To understand site traffic patterns. This uses cookies. You can opt out using Google’s browser add-on.
- WordPress — The content management system that powers this site, which handles comments and contact forms.
- Anthropic (Claude AI) — Several free tools on this site send your anonymous inputs to Anthropic’s AI to generate personalized educational results. Anthropic’s privacy policy governs their handling of that data. No personally identifying information is included in these requests.
I do not use social media tracking pixels, retargeting tools, or ad networks.
Children’s Privacy
This site is not directed at anyone under 18. I do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through this site, please contact me and I will remove it.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Ask what personal information I have about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your personal data (though published comments are generally part of the public record — see my Terms)
- Opt out of any email communications at any time

Changes to This Policy
If I make significant changes to this policy, I’ll update the date at the top. I won’t make the policy worse without telling you.
